Salary: $40,000 annually

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Operations Support Specialist helps ensure Exalt Academy’s campuses remain safe, functional, orderly, and ready for teaching and learning. The position performs routine preventive maintenance, responds to basic facility concerns, and assists the Director of Operations with coordinating vendors, tracking work requests, making calls, and keeping projects on schedule.

 

This is a support and execution-focused position. The Director of Operations establishes priorities and retains responsibility for facilities strategy, major projects, contracts, and vendor decisions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Complete routine campus checks and preventive maintenance, including changing air filters, checking and replacing lights, replacing ceiling tiles, completing minor painting and repairs, monitoring exits, and identifying safety or facility concerns.
  • Respond promptly to routine issues that interrupt staff work or student learning and communicate when a concern requires specialized or licensed service.
  • Maintain an organized list of work requests, preventive maintenance tasks, inspection needs, completion dates, and unresolved concerns.
  • Assist the Director of Operations by contacting vendors, requesting information, confirming appointments, following up on work orders, and helping keep projects and required services on track.
  • Support campus readiness through basic grounds upkeep, trash removal, supply or hardware-store errands, furniture movement, and event setup or breakdown.
  • Follow district safety procedures and support compliance with applicable health, fire, building, and facility requirements.

Specialized electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or other licensed work will be referred to approved vendors unless the employee is appropriately qualified and specifically authorized to complete it.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in maintenance, facilities support, construction, property management, or a related area preferred.
  • Ability to complete routine repairs and preventive maintenance safely and
  • Strong organization, follow-through, communication, and time management
  • Ability to use email, calendars, work-order lists, and basic digital
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between
  • Must pass all required background checks

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

The position requires indoor and outdoor work, regular walking and standing, climbing ladders, bending, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events or urgent facility needs.

Measures of Success

Success will be measured by timely completion of routine maintenance, accurate tracking and follow-up, reduced disruption to teaching and staff work, well-maintained campuses, and effective support of the Director of Operations.
