Exalt Academy of Southwest Little Rock is a public charter school district serving students from early childhood through grade 12 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Position Summary

The K-5 Paraprofessional supports student learning and safety under the direction of classroom teachers and school leaders. The role includes teacher-directed small-group intervention; mCLASS assessment/progress-monitoring responsibilities as trained and assigned; classroom support; active lunch/recess/dismissal duties; materials preparation; documentation; and consistent reinforcement of schoolwide routines and PBIS expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional & Intervention Support

• Provide teacher-directed small-group and individual intervention using approved lessons, materials, and routines.
• Prepare for intervention by reviewing the assigned plan/materials, modeling or prompting as directed, checking understanding, and recording student evidence.
• Administer or support mCLASS benchmark/progress-monitoring activities as trained and assigned, following assessment integrity and administration requirements.
• Reinforce classroom instruction without independently changing curriculum, grading standards, or instructional goals unless directed by the teacher/leader.

Supervision & PBIS

• Actively supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, transitions, and other assigned duties.
• Teach and reinforce classroom/school routines, positive behavior, and student dignity using Exalt PBIS expectations.
• Respond promptly to safety concerns and escalate behavior, health, or supervision issues through the appropriate leader.

Classroom & Documentation Support

• Prepare materials, organize learning spaces, support transitions, and assist teachers with routine classroom systems.
• Document student observations, intervention evidence, or assigned records accurately and submit them to the appropriate teacher/leader.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow teacher direction regarding family communication and student information.

Professionalism & Development

• Be punctual, dependable, present for assigned duties, coachable, and responsive to feedback.
• Participate in required training, onboarding, PLC-related support, and role-specific practice/modeling.
• Communicate early when barriers may prevent completion of assigned responsibilities.

Key Deliverables

• Deliver assigned small-group intervention as scheduled, with student evidence/notes recorded.
• mCLASS benchmark/progress-monitoring tasks completed accurately when assigned.
• Lunch, recess, transition, arrival, dismissal, and other duties completed actively and reliably.
• Complete required training and compliance items on time.
• Materials, student records, and classroom support tasks completed by established deadlines.

What Success Looks Like

• Students receive consistent, accurate small-group support from the provided instructional plan.
• mCLASS and other assigned data are completed accurately and on time.
• The paraprofessional actively supervises students rather than passively monitoring them.
• Teachers can depend on the paraprofessional to follow directions, maintain routines, and communicate concerns promptly.
• Students experience respectful behavior support and safe transitions throughout the day.

Qualifications & Licensure

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet Arkansas paraprofessional qualification requirements for the assignment, such as qualifying college credit, an associate degree, or a passing state-approved paraprofessional assessment.
• CPR/First Aid certification required when assigned by district/program requirements or must be obtained within the established timeframe.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Technical & System Expectations

• Ability to use basic classroom technology and district systems including Clever, mCLASS, and other assessment/intervention tools as trained and assigned.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and protect confidential student information.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in classroom and school settings for extended periods and regularly move throughout classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, and other student areas.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, or stoop as needed to support instruction, student routines, and supervision.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move classroom materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and school leaders and respond appropriately to student needs.
• Ability to actively supervise students during instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and assigned duties.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
